The Blue Monster opened in 1962 as a Dick Wilson design and hosted the PGA Tour's Doral Open for over 40 years before transitioning to the WGC-Cadillac Championship from 2007 to 2016. Gil Hanse rebuilt the course top-to-bottom in 2013-2014, lengthening it to 7,608 yards, enlarging the lakes, redoing every bunker and green complex, and toughening the iconic 18th hole โ which Golf Magazine ranks among the Top 100 Holes in the World. Golf Digest has the Blue Monster at #86 on America's 100 Greatest Public for 2025-26. The course also appears on Golf Magazine's Top 100 Courses You Can Play. Public access is preserved despite the Trump-resort branding, though peak-season pricing puts it firmly in the $$$ band. For a Miami-area trip, this is the historic championship round.
