A-Ga-Ming Resort - Sundance Course

The Sundance Course at A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort, nestled on glacier-carved bluffs between Torch Lake and Grand Traverse Bay in northern Michigan, is one of the state's most dramatically-sited public courses. Designed by Jerry Matthews and opened in 2005, the 7,003-yard par-72 layout offers panoramic views of both Torch Lake to the east and Lake Michigan to the west, with wide fairways, deeply-sculpted greens, expansive windswept bunkering, and heather-clad mounding that shape nearly every hole. The course is the younger of A-Ga-Ming's two 18-hole tracks (the older being Torch, also by Matthews from the 1990s). Matthews designed Sundance with width and scale, the fairways are generous and the bunkering dramatic rather than punitive, which translates to a more fun experience for resort guests across handicap levels. The Michigan Golf Course Association named Sundance its 2023 Michigan Golf Course of the Year. Pace-of-play concerns appear occasionally in reviews (6-hour weekend rounds), but the course itself consistently delivers on the spectacular-vista promise.
