Clive Clark, an English architect, built his first U.S. design at Belgrade Lakes in central Maine, opening in 1998 about 17 miles north of Augusta. The clubhouse and first tee sit high above the rest of the property, offering panoramic views of the Belgrade Lakes and surrounding pine forest. Rocky outcrops and stone boulders line many fairways, providing the visual identity that distinguishes the course from typical New England parkland. Golf Digest had Belgrade Lakes on its 100 Greatest Public list for 12 years from 2003-10 and 2015-18, long-running national recognition. The course was rated #5 in the USA for new upscale courses when it opened. Daily-fee public pricing in the $$ band. As a Maine destination round it pairs with Sugarloaf and Sunday River as the third leg of a three-day western-and-central Maine mountain loop.
Belgrade Lakes Golf Club's peak-season green fee is around $180 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Western Maine trip cost
