Bethlehem Country Club holds a specific place in New Hampshire golf history as the first course Donald Ross designed in the state. Ross was engaged to expand the original layout to 18 holes by 1909, an early commission in what would become one of the most celebrated design careers in American golf. The course plays to a par of 70 at 5,808 yards and sits in Bethlehem, a White Mountains town in northern New Hampshire. Town-owned from 1949 through 2020, the club was sold to private owners but continues to operate as a public course, with the season running May 1 through October 31. It is priced at the budget end of the scale and is part of both the Donald Ross New England Trail — spanning courses across Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine — and the New Hampshire Mountain sub-trail within that itinerary.
