Jack Nicklaus designed Grand Bear Golf Club in 1999 โ a Signature Design carved from a dense pine forest in Saucier, Mississippi, next to DeSoto National Forest. The course routes through a 1,700-acre property in two loops with no two holes parallel โ rare for a Nicklaus layout. Despite the Nicklaus brand, Grand Bear is notably playable for most handicaps. GolfPass named Grand Bear one of the Top 50 U.S. Public Golf Courses on its Golfer's Choice 2024 list. Golfweek named it Best Public Course in Mississippi. Golf Digest awards the facility 4.5 stars in Best Places to Play. Golfweek's 2017 Mississippi state ranking placed it #3. Grand Bear hosted the PGA Tour Champions 2022 Rapiscan Systems Classic. One of the two flagship public-access Mississippi Gulf Coast rounds, alongside Fallen Oak at Beau Rivage.
