About

Litchfield Country Club is Pawleys Island's original golf course and the oldest on South Carolina's Hammock Coast Golf Trail. Designed by Willard Byrd and opened in 1966 on the grounds of a former rice plantation, it holds a genuine place in the region's golf history as the course that established the south Strand as a golf destination. The Byrd design is laid out through classic Lowcountry terrain, with magnolias, camellias, and Spanish-moss-draped live oaks framing the routing. Tactical doglegs characterize the layout, which plays to a par 72 at 6,752 yards. A public-access course, it is priced in the mid-range ($$) and is included on the Hammock Coast Golf Trail itinerary.
