John Fought opened the Players Course at Indian Wells in 2007 and has since overseen further renovations, a timeless American parkland routing drawing inspiration from Riviera, Winged Foot, and Alister MacKenzie's strategic tradition. Fought's signature bunkering, deep, geometrically rendered, pushed up against the playing lines, defines the course's visual identity. The par-5 7th (552 yards) and par-5 9th (626 yards) are the showcase birdie/bogey holes on the front. The inward nine turns strategic: the water-laden short par-4 11th tempts the driver, the semi-blind right-doglegged 13th punishes the wrong line. The round wraps up with the 243-yard par-3 17th and the 551-yard par-5 18th, both built to reward aggression without demanding it.
