About Maggie Valley Club & Resort

Maggie Valley Club & Resort in western North Carolina sits in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains, about 40 minutes west of Asheville. The course has a genuine origin story: in the early 1960s, Wilmore Bremmer assembled a group of investors who bought old tobacco and cornfields and hand-sewed the front nine (the Valley Nine), welcoming its first golfers in late summer 1963. A back nine (the Mountain Nine) was added later further up the mountain, creating the 6,500-yard layout that defines the course today. The dramatic mountain setting is the headline. The Valley Nine plays across a flatter plateau with fewer elevation surprises, while the Mountain Nine climbs and descends the western NC foothills with the kind of altitude-adjusted club selection that makes mountain golf a different game. For the Asheville-based trip visitor, Maggie Valley is the mountain-golf counterpoint to the city's urban-adjacent public tracks, Western NC scenery at its most spectacular, at a price point well below the Asheville-city resort courses.
