Olde Stonewall, a Dr. Michael Hurdzan / Dana Fry design from 1999 on rolling Pennsylvania farmland near Pittsburgh. (DB field crediting Michael Rea is stale, the architects of record are Hurdzan and Fry, the same team behind Erin Hills, Ballyhack, and Desert Willow.) The front nine rises from the banks of Connoquenessing Creek on relatively flat terrain; the back nine climbs up over wooded hills to a breathtaking ridge. Holes 13 and 16 offer the best views, particularly striking in summer and fall. The castle-themed Scottish clubhouse and stone architecture give the facility an unusual aesthetic signature for the region. 6,944 yards par 70, 140 slope. Golf Magazine Top 10 New Public Course in 1999. Golf Digest Top 50 public courses in the US. Golf Advisor Top Courses in Pennsylvania top-5 for years running (#2 in 2018, #3 in 2017, #4 in 2020). One of the premier Pittsburgh-area public rounds, anchor of any Penn-Ohio Trail itinerary.
Olde Stonewall Golf Club's peak-season green fee is around $175 per round; off-peak rates drop to about $60. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Penn-Ohio Trail trip cost
