Arnold Palmer designed The Legend at Shanty Creek Resort in 1985, set on a hillside above Lake Bellaire with the kind of elevation changes that make northern Michigan resort golf unique. Shanty Creek's namesake creek meanders through several holes, and the routing leans into the lake views from the higher elevations on the back nine. The Legend has been ranked inside Michigan's top 10 from 1987-89, top 15 in 1993 and 1997-99, and top 25 from 1995 and 2001-23, three decades of continuous in-state recognition. Golf Digest awarded it 4½ stars in its Places to Play Directory, and the Michigan Golf Course Owner's Association named it Course of the Year in 2014. Golf Magazine has it among Top Resort Courses in the U.S. and ranked as one of the top four resort courses in the country and the best resort course in the Midwest. Resort-tier pricing applies.
Shanty Creek - The Legend's peak-season green fee is around $115 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Traverse City trip cost
