About

Robert Von Hagge (with Smelek and Baril) designed The Atchafalaya at Idlewild in Patterson, Louisiana, opening in 2006. Von Hagge is best known for Doral, La Costa, and TPC at the Woodlands; this 7,533-yard layout sits in the Atchafalaya Basin with five lakes and ten native wetland areas spanning 40 acres of the 175-acre property. The course is a member of the Louisiana Audubon Golf Trail and was quickly regarded as a 'must play' in Louisiana after opening. As a public, daily-fee Audubon Trail course in the $-to-$$ band, it's among the most affordable serious-golf options in the state. For a Louisiana golf trip the Atchafalaya pairs naturally with TPC Louisiana and Carter Plantation as a three-stop Audubon Trail loop covering Pete Dye, David Toms, and Robert Von Hagge designs.
