The Moor is the members' pick at The Highlands at Harbor Springs (rebranded from Boyne Highlands Resort in 2022), a traditional parkland layout that has quietly held its spot on the resort's four-course roster since 1974. Michigan architect Bill Newcomb designed the original routing with John F. Robinson, Boyne's in-house hand at the time, and Mike DeVries has since refreshed the course with sympathetic updates that preserve the 1970s feel. Par 72 at 6,850 yards with a 73.5 rating and a strong 144 slope, it plays harder than it looks on the card. The Moor's identity is wrapped up in its doglegs and water. Nearly every hole bends one way or another, and several carry or flirt with lakes, ponds, or wetland cuts, giving the course a different rhythm than its higher-profile Arthur Hills and Robert Trent Jones siblings at the Highlands complex. It's the least-crowded of the four resort courses and often the locals' first choice when they have a choice. For the Northern Michigan golf trip visitor rotating through the Highlands, it's the round where you actually have to think about the driver-or-less-than-driver question on every tee.
The Highlands - The Moor's peak-season green fee is around $115 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Boyne / Petoskey trip cost
