Carson Valley Golf Course in Gardnerville is one of Northern Nevada's most character-filled value-tier rounds, a Red Swift design that opened in 1965 and has maintained its unique Carson River corridor character ever since. Swift was a local architect who also developed the neighboring Ranchos residential area that's home to many Gardnerville residents today, which gives Carson Valley a genuinely hometown pedigree. The course plays 5,759 yards to a par of 71, shorter than modern championship yardage, but the cool rush of the Carson River and the natural shade of century-old cottonwood trees give the course a unique character unlike anywhere else in Northern Nevada. Water in play, mature hardwood framing, and pace-of-play municipal-scale conditioning make Carson Valley a pleasant contrast to the bigger-ticket Reno/Tahoe destination rounds. The current owners Tom and Manya Brooks purchased the course in 2001 from Tom's parents (who had owned it since 1986), a continuous family-operated history that shows in the course's atmosphere. For the Reno / Carson City / South Lake Tahoe trip visitor (Carson Valley sits 30 min south of Carson City and 45 min north of Minden/Topaz Lake), this is the value-tier supplement round, paired naturally with Genoa Lakes (John Harbottle III, 20 min north) and Dayton Valley (Arnold Palmer, 35 min north) for a three-round Carson Valley package.
Carson Valley Golf Course's peak-season green fee is around $50 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Reno trip cost
