Clyde Johnston (Hilton Head-based architect) designed Cherry Blossom in Georgetown, Kentucky, opening in 2001 on a 178-acre property north of Lexington. The course gets its name from the cherry trees lining several holes, blooming in spring and signaling the start of central Kentucky's golf season. Golf Digest named it the #9 Best New Affordable Golf Course of 2002, and it appeared on Golfweek's America's Best Courses You Can Play. From 2004 through 2010, Golfweek voted Cherry Blossom the #1 public golf course in Kentucky for seven consecutive years. The course has won numerous awards from Golfweek and Golf Digest. Daily-fee public pricing in the $-to-$$ band โ strong value for a course that held the state #1 public ranking for nearly a decade. As a Bourbon Trail option, it pairs with Kearney Hill (the Pete Dye public muni in Lexington) for a Lexington-area two-stop loop.
