Coldwater Canyon Golf Course

Cold Water Canyon Golf Course at Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells is one of the Dells' most architecturally-layered public courses, a 27-hole facility combining a classic front nine built in 1923 with a dynamic links-style back nine carved through hills, moguls, and natural canyon terrain that was added in 1999. The original 1923 holes are genuinely Golden Age in vintage, making Cold Water Canyon one of the oldest continuously operating golf layouts in central Wisconsin. The property has a colorful ownership history: the Berry family owned and operated the course until 1960, when James 'Jimmie' Wimmer and his family purchased it and operated it as Pineaire Country Club for several decades. During the 1980s the Wimmer family reverted the course name to Cold Water Canyon and constructed a new octagonal clubhouse with a wrap-around porch. Bill and Betty Wimmer completed the new links-style back nine and new clubhouse in 1999. For the Wisconsin Dells trip visitor, Cold Water Canyon sits in the second tier behind Trappers Turn and the Oaks at Christmas Mountain, useful as a third-round supplement or as the Chula Vista Resort stay-and-play option.
