Dave Bennett designed the original Cypress Bend Golf Resort course which opened September 23, 1996 (not 2002 as sometimes listed) on Toledo Bend Lake, a reservoir on the Texas-Louisiana border near Many, Louisiana, one of the best bass fishing lakes in the American South. In 2024, Jeff Blume led a comprehensive redesign and the course reopened with substantially modernized routing. The layout features 10 holes along the water and six holes with shots across hidden coves and inlets, an unusually high waterfront-hole percentage for a resort course. The Texas-Louisiana geographical intersection gives Cypress Bend a distinctly non-Louisiana feel, with pine-forest framing more reminiscent of East Texas than the bayou country further south. Peak green fee runs $45-75 depending on season. Fits a Louisiana Audubon Golf Trail road trip as the Toledo Bend Lake waterfront card, pair with the OakWing (Alexandria) and Carter Plantation (Springfield) stops for a three-card Louisiana Audubon Trail weekend.
Cypress Bend Golf Resort's peak-season green fee is around $65 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Louisiana Audubon Trail trip cost
