About Dancing Rabbit - The Oaks

Tom Fazio and Jerry Pate's second Dancing Rabbit layout, the Oaks opened in 1999, two years after the Azaleas, and is rated the tougher of the two 18-hole tracks. Named for the Dancing Rabbit Treaty between the Choctaw Nation and the US government, the combined 700-acre property is cut by five miles of spring-fed streams, secluded and serene in a way that resort golf rarely feels in the South. The Oaks features Zoysia fairways and Bermuda greens (the Azaleas is Bermuda fairways/bent greens), routed out-and-back with a halfway house at the turn near the 10th tee. The par-4 7th could easily be the signature, 446-yard dogleg left with a large pond stretching from tee to mid-fairway, demanding a drive aimed at the right-side fairway bunker and an approach to a narrow, rolling landing area. The par-5 4th is deceptively tough at 536 yards thanks to a drop-off left and a shallow 20-yard-deep green that repels approaches. Regularly ranked among the Best Casino courses in the nation by Golfweek and #7 on Golf Magazine's 'Top 10 Underrated Courses in America.' Forms the strongest 36-hole resort stay in Mississippi alongside the Azaleas.
