Downriver Golf Course

Downriver is Spokane's oldest golf course, established in 1916 on a stretch of tall pines along the Spokane River adjacent to Riverside State Park. The course predates most of America's enduring municipal facilities and has hosted many major tournaments over its century-plus history. At par 71 and 6,130 yards, the modern Downriver plays short by championship standards but full of character, gently rolling terrain, riverfront views, and mature forested corridors that give it an intimate feel. Downtriver operates as one of Spokane's four municipal courses, and is widely considered the historic anchor of what many cite as America's strongest muni golf city. Designer lineage is historically ambiguous, early attribution to Alex Findlay 1915 layouts, with renovations layered over the decades. The current routing preserves the essential character while working within modern conditioning standards.
