Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Roger Rulewich opened the North Course at Firestone in 1969, complementing the famous WGC-host South Course with a routing through a more lake-and-stream-defined corridor. Golf Digest had the North #18 in Ohio for 1995-96 and #19 for 1997-98 — solid in-state recognition without the South's national-tournament profile. Golfweek put the North #66 on America's 100 Best Modern Courses (1997). Tournament history is meaningful: the course hosted the 1976 American Golf Classic and the 1994 World Series of Golf. Both Firestone courses are accessible only via the Invited Clubs network. As a complement to the South in a Firestone visit, North is the second round most groups book — the test is honest and the lake-and-stream landscape is visually distinct from the South.
