About The Pete Dye Course at French Lick

Pete Dye's 2009 course at French Lick Resort, etched into the hilltops of Hoosier National Forest on one of Indiana's highest elevation points, with 40-mile panoramic views that have become the course's identifying signature. Dye moved 2.5 million cubic yards of dirt to create the fingers of land the holes are draped on, one of the most ambitious earthworks of his career. The par-5 18th (657/626 yards) is the signature close, a reachable-in-two despite the length, thanks to a big downhill tee shot and a sweeping left turn that rewards aggressive lines. The Redan-style par-3 13th lets players chase a low ball up the right and use contour to release to the green. The par-3 16th has water running the entire right side. Dye's 'volcano' bunkers are a throughout-the-round signature, and narrow fairways keep the penalty for missed targets real. Ranked #18 on Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Public Courses (2025-26), peaked at #17 (2013-16, 2019-20). #1 in Indiana on Golfweek's Best You Can Play (2010-2025). Host to Senior PGA Championship, Senior LPGA Championship, and Big Ten Conference Championships in recent years. One of the best public Dye courses in the country and the anchor of any Pete Dye Trail itinerary.
