Larry Nelson, three-time major champion, designed Gaylord Springs Golf Links in 1990 as a Scottish links-style par-72 along the Cumberland River, bordered by dramatic limestone bluffs and wetlands. One of the cleaner Nelson public designs and the flagship round at the Gaylord Opryland Resort complex. The signature 4th hole has a real century-old springhouse, the namesake feature, set behind the green, requiring an accurate lay-up off the tee and a short-iron approach across water to a sloped putting surface. The par-3 on the back nine that plays over water to a green with granite cliffs as the backdrop is the other visual signature. Water comes into play on 10 of the 17 holes after the straightforward par-5 opener. Golf Advisor ranked #2 Top Course in Tennessee in both 2018 and 2021, #4 in 2020, #6 in 2017 and 2022, #13 in 2024, consistent top-10 presence for 7+ years.
