The Links Course at Grand National opened in 1992 alongside the Lake Course, Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s twin championship layouts at the flagship RTJ Golf Trail site. While the Lake hugs 600-acre Saugahatchee Lake, the Links plays through rolling wooded interior terrain with the eponymous links-style fescue rough framing wider corridors. Golf Digest has consistently placed the Links in Alabama's top 10: 6th (2011-12, 2015-16), 7th (2017-18, 2019-20), 8th (2013-14, 2021-22), 12th (2023-24), and 15th (2025-26). GOLF Magazine rated it #78 Best Public Course in North America and the best in Alabama. Both Grand National courses appear on Golf Digest's Top 50 Affordable Courses and Super Value Places to Play, an unusual combination of quality and price. Grand National itself was voted #1 public golf facility in America by Golf World readers.
