Rocky Roquemore designed Gray Plantation Golf Club, which opened in 1999 on the shores of the Calcasieu River in the Graywood residential community on the outskirts of Lake Charles, Louisiana. 6,946 yards par-72 of risk-reward decision-making woven through lakes, ponds, and the meandering Calcasieu waterway. The signature hole is the par-3 6th, an island green with the Calcasieu River forming most of the hazard frame. Many holes are threatened by lakes and ponds, but Roquemore gave players bail-out angles that keep the round playable for mid-handicappers. Roquemore (who worked with Joe Lee early in his career and went solo after Lee's retirement) brought classic parkland-Southern design vocabulary to a site that could have easily become a generic Florida-lite swamp course. Peak green fee runs $55-85. Fits a Louisiana Audubon Golf Trail trip as the Lake Charles area card, pair with Cypress Bend, OakWing, and Carter Plantation for a three or four-card Louisiana road trip.
Gray Plantation Golf Club's peak-season green fee is around $75 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Louisiana Audubon Trail trip cost
