About Greystone Golf Club

Greystone Golf Club in Washington Township, Michigan, is W. Bruce Matthews and Jerry Matthews's 1992 design, Macomb County's first upscale 18-hole daily-fee facility, reclaimed from what had previously been a gravel quarry. The Matthews father-and-son team used the quarry's existing elevation changes and rock features as architectural assets rather than hiding them, creating a course that local golfers describe as 'one of Jerry Matthews's finest masterpieces.' At 6,913 yards par 72 with a 73.6 rating and 132 slope on Bermuda grass, Greystone plays as a serious resort-style test. The defining stretch is the closing three: holes 16, 17, and 18 all wrap around a 35-acre lake, producing what local media have dubbed 'The Best Finish in Michigan Golf.' The lake comes into play on every approach across the finishing stretch, making the late bets on any match the most expensive of the round. For a southeastern Michigan public-course trip, Greystone pairs with The Orchards (RTJ Jr. 1993) and Shepherd's Hollow (Arthur Hills 2000) for a three-course metro Detroit itinerary, all top-tier daily fees, all within an hour of downtown.
