About Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park Golf Course

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park Golf Course in Gilbertsville, on the shores of Kentucky Lake, the largest artificial lake east of the Mississippi, is one of the most architecturally significant state-park courses in the American South. The original layout is credited to legendary architect Perry Maxwell, who opened the course in 1950 as part of Kentucky's state-park system development. Maxwell, also responsible for Prairie Dunes, Southern Hills, and Colonial, brought Golden Age strategic design principles to a muni state-park layout, an unusual pedigree for public parks golf. The par-72 routing plays through the rolling western-Kentucky terrain between the dam and the lake, with classic Maxwell green complexes that reward approach-shot precision. At state-park rates, this is one of the great Perry Maxwell bargains in American public golf. For Kentucky State Parks Golf Trail trip visitors, Kentucky Dam Village is a marquee stop, two hours of gorgeous lake-country driving from Louisville or Nashville, and a chance to play a legitimate Perry Maxwell design for the price of a casual muni round.
