Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort - Sun Mountain

Pete Dye's second course at Las Vegas Paiute, opened in 1996, at 7,112 yards par-72, positioned between the demanding Wolf and the original Snow Mountain as the resort's 'real test of shotmaking' layout. Water comes into play on just three holes; Dye leaned on strategic bunkering and undulating fairways to carry the difficulty. The par-3 4th is the signature hole: 206 yards from the tips, all carry over water, with bunkering right and a shallow bail-out left. The par-3 14th at 219 yards plays to a green so deeply front-bunkered the approach has to land near-vertical to hold. The course sits in high desert 45 minutes from the Strip with the Sheep Mountains filling the horizon. Pair with Wolf and Snow Mountain for three distinct Dye designs across three days, Sun Mountain is the middle in difficulty and the most accessible of the three for a single-round day trip.
