About

Jerry Pate and Bob Cupp designed Old Waverly in 1988 — an 18-hole championship course in West Point, Mississippi that has become the state's most acclaimed semi-private layout. The course plays through rolling North Mississippi terrain with a central lake on the back nine, bentgrass greens, and tree-lined corridors that demand precise iron play. Old Waverly hosted the 1999 U.S. Women's Open, won by Juli Inkster — the peak moment in the club's championship history. It's also hosted the 2006 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur and 2019 U.S. Women's Amateur. Golf Digest ranks it #1 Golf Course in Mississippi and includes it on the Top 100. Golfweek places it #1 Residential Golf Course in Mississippi and on the Top 100 as well. Paired with sister course Mossy Oak (Gil Hanse design, opened 2016) a few miles away, West Point is a genuine destination for serious golf at a price almost impossible in other states.
