The Black Course at Bethpage State Park is one of Americas most famous public courses, designed by A.W. Tillinghast in 1936. Host of the 2002 and 2009 US Open and the 2024 Ryder Cup, it is the only publicly owned course to host these major championships. The tee sign famously warns that the course is extremely difficult and only highly skilled golfers should attempt it. At over 7,400 yards through dense hardwood forest with punishing rough and deep bunkers, it delivers on that promise.
Bethpage State Park: Black Course's peak-season green fee is around $180 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full NY State Parks Trail trip cost
