About Plum Creek Golf Club

Plum Creek Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana is one of Pete Dye's last Midwest public designs, a 1998 routing done in collaboration with Tim Liddy (a longtime Dye associate who continued the Dye design office's work after Pete's death). The course sits 25 minutes north of downtown Indianapolis in Carmel's Hamilton County, part of the city of Carmel's public-parks system. At 6,731 yards par 72 with a 72.5 rating and 127 slope, Plum Creek plays more accessibly than Dye's brutal resort statements, this is a public muni with Dye fingerprints rather than a tournament-grade torture test. Dye and Liddy laid out strategically placed bunkers, undulating greens, and multiple water features, with several ponds and a winding stream (Plum Creek, naturally) threading through the middle of the routing. Five tee sets range from just under 7,000 yards down to just over 5,000, accommodating every skill level. Plum Creek has hosted several high-level college and professional events, including the 2004 Indiana Women's Golf Association Mid-Amateur. For the Pete Dye Trail visitor, Plum Creek is the one Dye-designed course on the trail that feels closest to a 'regular' public round, approachable entry point into the Dye architectural vocabulary.
