Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the Palmer Course at Saddlebrook Resort in 1986, incorporating nine holes from the resort's original 27-hole Dean Refram layout while building nine entirely new holes, the Refram-original holes are now 6 through 14 in the current routing. The result is a 6,469-yard par-71 layout that blends 1970s-era Florida parkland character with mid-1980s Palmer/Seay strategic modernization. Fairways are generous and feature characteristic Palmer mounding; greens are often raised and well-protected by bunker complexes that force precise iron play. Saddlebrook sits 30 miles north of Tampa International Airport in Wesley Chapel, with a second Palmer-era course (Cypress) completing the resort's 36-hole offering. Peak green fee runs $95-155 for resort guests. Fits a Tampa Bay trip as the resort-stay card paired with Innisbrook's Copperhead (Packard) or TPC Tampa Bay for architectural variety.
