Stevens Park Golf Course is Dallas's municipal crown jewel, a historic public 18 that opened in 1924 with 9 holes designed by Jack Burke Sr. (father of 1956 Masters champion Jack Burke Jr.) and later expanded to the full 18-hole layout. The course sits in Oak Cliff about 5 minutes from downtown Dallas, and for most of the 20th century was a beloved-but-modestly-conditioned muni. That changed dramatically in 2011. A complete $8 million renovation by Fort Worth-based Colligan Golf Design rebuilt the course from the ground up, new routing, new tee boxes, new fairways, new greens, and 38 new sand bunkers. The signature hole is unquestionably the par-4 15th, with the Dallas skyline rising in the background as the approach-shot framing, one of the most distinctly-Dallas shots in public golf. GolfWeek ranked Stevens Park among the 50 best municipal golf courses in the United States in 2014, and the course now draws 42,000+ rounds per year with over $1 million in revenue to the city. For the Dallas-area trip visitor, Stevens Park is the history-plus-skyline muni experience, a short drive from downtown and pairs well with Cowboys Golf Club and The Tribute for a three-round DFW weekend.
Stevens Park Golf Course's peak-season green fee is around $56 per round; off-peak rates drop to about $40. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Dallas / PGA Frisco trip cost
