The Ashford Short Course at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs is one of the most thoughtful short-course additions in American resort golf, a 9-hole par-3 loop (holes ranging 56-112 yards) set on the valley floor with breathtaking Allegheny Mountain views. The course opened as part of The Greenbrier's early-2020s renewal, with holes that pay direct homage to revered architects and courses around the world. The design credit goes to Kelly Shumate, The Greenbrier's director of golf course maintenance, an unusual internal-designer project rather than a hired marquee architect. The Lions Mouth (first hole) plays to a double green shared with the 'Duel' hole, with a large ridge dissecting the two and a 'Lions Mouth' bunker guarding the front right. The 'Plateau' 5th can stretch to 112 yards. The 7th, nicknamed 'Double,' features a green separated by a large ridge. For Greenbrier resort trip visitors, the Ashford is the perfect post-Old-White warm-up or twilight round, playable, fun, and a genuine palate-cleanser between the resort's flagship championship courses.
The Ashford Short Course's peak-season green fee is around $90 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full The Greenbrier trip cost
