Arthur Hills's 2000 Links at Lighthouse Sound, opened on the Bishopville, Maryland side of the Ocean City estuary with panoramic views of the Ocean City skyline across the St. Martin's River. Home of the longest cart bridge in the United States, stretching nearly 1,500 feet across the marsh, which is exactly the kind of bizarre infrastructure detail that makes a course memorable. Fifteen of 18 holes play with marsh, river, or bay in view or in play. Front nine runs along the bay; back nine borders the St. Martin's River through mature hardwoods and pristine marshland. The par-3 5th is the signature, plays directly over marsh to a green surrounded by water on three sides (89-218 yards tee options), with Ocean City's skyline as the backdrop. Holes 2 and 3, par-5 508 yards and par-3 190 yards, are the only consecutive holes in America playing to the same 16,000-square-foot double green. Top 10 Best New Public Courses by Golf Magazine and Top 100 honoree. Ranked #5 Maryland (2001-03), top 10 (2005-07), #11 (2015-16) on Golf Digest state rankings, 15+ years inside the state top 15. A must-play on any Ocean City or Delaware coast golf trip.
