TPC Harding Park, Willie Watson and Sam Whiting's 1925 municipal course on the edge of Lake Merced in San Francisco, later restored by Arthur Hills in 2002 and brought onto the TPC network. Host of the 2020 PGA Championship, the first major championship to be held at a TPC property and the first PGA Championship staged in San Francisco. The restoration preserved Watson's original routing (the same architect gave the city The Olympic Club across Lake Merced, another championship venue) while tightening the corridors and stiffening the par-5s. The 607-yard par-5 4th is the longest hole. The final five holes play along Lake Merced with cypress trees and bay fog framing the views, the 18th, a par-4 with SF neighborhoods visible and a peek at Sutro Tower in the distance, is one of the best closing holes in Bay Area public golf. One of a tiny number of PGA Championship-host public courses in the US and a bucket-list San Francisco round. The cost is resort-tier ($200+), but it's rightly considered one of the best public championship tests on the West Coast. Pair with Pasatiempo for the two best SF Bay public rounds.
TPC Harding Park's peak-season green fee is around $200 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full San Francisco Bay Area trip cost
