About Wild Dunes Resort - Harbor Course

Tom Fazio returned to Isle of Palms in 1985 to build the Harbor Course at Wild Dunes, six years after finishing the Links next door. The brief was different this time, less dune-country, more salt-marsh, and the result is one of the most water-defined courses in coastal South Carolina. Lagoons, tidal marsh, and the Intracoastal Waterway come into play on nearly every hole; East Coast golfers call the Intracoastal 'the world's longest water hazard' and the Harbor runs along it for long stretches. At 6,359 yards and par 70, the Harbor plays shorter than the Links but demands precision over power. The 17th is the signature, a 430-yard par-4 that asks for a long, dogleg-left drive across the Intracoastal with marsh all along the left side. A recent $8 million renovation redesigned bunkers, rebuilt greens, and added drainage resilience (a recurring concern on a tidal course). Wild Dunes' two Fazio courses, Links for the oceanfront closer, Harbor for the Intracoastal test, make the resort a two-round stop on any Charleston itinerary. Both recognized by Golf Digest among South Carolina's best.
