Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw routed Bandon Trails in 2005 as the first non-oceanside course at the Bandon Dunes complex — a deliberate design pivot that takes golfers inland through coastal pine forest, meadow, and dune ridgelines before returning briefly to the cliffs. The result is a strategic, walkable course that many Bandon regulars rate their favorite of the five. Golf Digest places Bandon Trails at #38 on its Top 100 Public Golf Courses in America, and it appears on the magazine's rankings of the 50 greatest courses built since 2000. Golf Magazine included it at #33 on its 50 best courses built in the last 50 years (2009). It has climbed consistently in rankings since 2015.
