About Bear's Best Atlanta

Bear's Best Atlanta in Suwanee is a Jack Nicklaus replica-course concept that opened in 2002, an 18-hole selection of Nicklaus's favorite holes from his 300+ course designs worldwide, brought together as one round of golf. Nicklaus co-designed the property with David Heatwole, and Bear's Best is one of only two Bear's Best facilities in the US (the other in Las Vegas). The replica lineup reads like a tour of Jack Nicklaus's design career: Castle Pines (Colorado), Muirfield Village (Ohio, site of the Memorial Tournament), PGA National Championship Course (Florida, including the famous 'Bear Trap' 15th), Sherwood Country Club, Shoal Creek, and Gleneagles among others. The par-3 6th is a copy of the famous 12th at Muirfield Village, Nicklaus's own course and one of the most iconic par-3s in American golf. The first hole replicates the 10th at St. Mellion in Cornwall, England, and the par-5 7th is inspired by the 3rd at Shoal Creek (Alabama). At 6,824 yards par 72, Bear's Best plays as a legitimate scoring round on top of its novelty-golf appeal, the replicas are true to the originals in shot demands and green-complex character, not simplified for daily-fee play. For the metro Atlanta trip visitor, Bear's Best is the bucket-list signature round of the north suburbs, paired naturally with Echelon (Rees Jones), TPC Sugarloaf (when public), and Stone Mountain for a three-to-four-round Atlanta package.
