Black Desert Resort Golf Course

Tom Weiskopf (with Phil Smith) designed Black Desert Resort Golf Course in Ivins, Utah, the final course Weiskopf completed before his death in August 2022. The course opened May 27, 2023 on a site of dramatic black lava fields and red-rock formations in the Greater Zion area, a setting unlike anything else in American resort golf. Black Desert sits at #35 on Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Public Courses and #34 on Golfweek's Top 100 Best Courses You Can Play (2025). Golfweek ranks it #1 in Utah (Best Courses You Can Play state-by-state) and #96 on Top 200 Modern Courses. Golf Digest named it one of the Best New Courses of 2023. Remarkably, Black Desert hosts both a PGA Tour event (Bank of Utah Championship, the first PGA Tour event in Utah in 60 years) and an LPGA event (Black Desert Championship), making it one of only three courses in the country with events on both tours (alongside Tiburon Golf Club and Pebble Beach).
