Buffalo Hill Golf Club in Kalispell is the oldest continuously-operating golf course in Montana's Flathead Valley, the original course opened in 1922 and has been serving northwest Montana golfers ever since. The facility is now a 27-hole complex with a Championship 18 plus the shorter 'Cameron' 18 (3,001 yards par 35). The Championship 18 that players see today is the result of Robert Muir Graves's 1978 redesign, a masterpiece-class renovation that completely reimagined the original routing. Arnold Palmer and fellow PGA Tour pro Bob Dickson were on hand August 11, 1978 to dedicate the new Championship Course at its Grand Opening, an event that cemented Buffalo Hill's place in Montana's golf history. The 6,584-yard par-72 Championship plays to a stout 77.2 rating and 137 slope, legitimately demanding despite the mid-1920s bones. For the Flathead Valley trip visitor, Buffalo Hill is the historic counterweight to Eagle Bend's modern Nicklaus/Hull three-era design, Graves's 1978 Palmer-dedicated layout representing a different era of Montana golf development.
Buffalo Hill Golf Club's peak-season green fee is around $78 per round; off-peak rates drop to about $58. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Whitefish trip cost
