Arnold Palmer designed Deacon's Lodge at Breezy Point in 1999, named in honor of Palmer's father "Deke." The course plays through woodlands and around lakes in the Brainerd Lakes region of Minnesota, and Palmer considered it one of his best designs. The par-3 17th was chosen from 2,700 Palmer-designed holes to appear in Kingdom magazine's "King's Dream 18." Golf Magazine named Deacon's Lodge one of the Top 10 New Public Courses in the Nation in 2000. The course was on Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Public list from 2003-07 and has remained in Minnesota's top 20 since, ranked 14th in 2021-22, 16th in 2023-24, and 18th for 2025-26. A consistent "Top 100 Courses" selection across multiple publications.
