Donald Ross's 1926 design in Augusta, where Bobby Jones won the 1930 Southeastern Open by 13 strokes to kick off his Grand Slam year, playing two of the four rounds on this routing. The other two rounds that week were at Augusta Country Club, a fitting piece of trivia for a course that sits literally across town from Augusta National. Thirteen of Ross's original holes survive, along with the original clubhouse. The Arnold Palmer Company redesigned the course in 2004, and under Bobby Jones Links management the greens were resurfaced with TifEagle Bermuda and the course reopened in November 2024. Signature hole is the par-5 6th at 487 yards, a blind uphill tee shot through a narrow tree-lined passage to a fairway bunker guarding right, with a blind downhill second shot to a small two-tiered green. Owned by Augusta University and open to the public, the only way to play a Donald Ross in Augusta without knowing a member. Essential on any Augusta golf trip, and a fair warm-up (or consolation) for a Masters-week detour.
Forest Hills Golf Club's peak-season green fee is around $70 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Augusta trip cost
