Goshen Plantation Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia is the public-access Ellis Maples design in the hometown of Augusta National, though importantly, Goshen is not affiliated with The Masters in any way. Maples, the son of Frank Maples (Donald Ross's master greenskeeper at Pinehurst) and a prolific Carolinas Golf Hall of Fame architect in his own right, designed Goshen Plantation as a championship parkland course that opened in 1968 or 1969 (sources vary). At 7,423 yards par 72 from the tips, the course plays serious championship length, one of the longest public layouts in the Augusta metro. The defining feature is the green complexes: tree-lined fairways lead to undulating, over-sized greens averaging 8,000 square feet, some of the largest putting surfaces in Georgia public golf. The signature par-4 9th encapsulates the course's character, with a fairway that meanders through a canopy of trees leading to a secluded, strategic green. For the Augusta trip visitor, whether Masters-week or otherwise, Goshen is the traditional, historic Maples design option at a fraction of the price of the private Augusta tracks.
Goshen Plantation Golf Club's peak-season green fee is around $55 per round; off-peak rates drop to about $35. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Augusta trip cost
