Jack Nicklaus opened Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee in 1992 as the property's flagship layout, back-nine routing tracing the shoreline of Lake Oconee for nine consecutive holes that put water in play on the tee shot, the approach, or both. The course got a top-to-bottom rebuild in 2019, modernizing greens, bunkering, and turf without changing the routing. Golfweek ranks it #2 in Georgia on its Best Courses You Can Play list and #82 nationally on the same list. Golf Magazine has it #41 on the Top 100 Courses You Can Play and #5 on its Top 10 Nicklaus Courses You Can Play.
