Tom Fazio's 27-hole National was the fourth 18-hole layout to open at Reynolds Lake Oconee, debuting in 1997 across rolling Georgia terrain with the kind of big landing areas, big greens, and 100+ bunkers that define Fazio's late-1990s 'big' phase. The three nines (Ridge, Bluff, Cove) combine in different 18-hole pairings, with Ridge/Bluff and Bluff/Cove being the two most-played configurations.
