Rees Jones added the Oconee Course to the Reynolds Lake Oconee portfolio in 2002, with five lakeside holes and the kind of risk-reward shaping he is known for in his resort work. He returned for a renovation in 2013 to refresh greens and bunkering. Golf Digest named it the 8th Best New Upscale Public Course of 2002. Georgia state rankings have stayed strong since: top 15 in 2003, top 20 from 2005-07, 20th in 2017-18, 29th in 2023-24, and 30th for 2025-26. Golfweek's 2018 Best You Can Play in Georgia put it #5. Among the five Reynolds courses it's typically the second round groups book after Great Waters โ slightly less famous, similarly priced, but a different test of ball control on the approach shots.
