Gulf Shores Golf Club, not to be confused with the Arnold Palmer-designed Craft Farms across town, is the city's namesake municipal course, originally routed by Earl Stone and opened just weeks after Arnold Palmer's 1958 Masters victory (hence the frequent Palmer association in local lore, though he had no design hand). The father-son team of Jay and Carter Morrish led a substantial 2005 redesign that expanded the green complexes, added bunkers and water features, and stretched the par-71 layout by 300 yards, bringing the course up to modern resort-grade standards. Since that renovation the course has consistently ranked among golfadvisor.com's Top 15 in Alabama. Recent ownership transition in 2025 to Regent Golf Partners has continued the upgrade trajectory. For visiting Gulf Shores trips, it's the affordable, walkable, historic alternative to the nearby destination courses along the Alabama Gulf Coast Golf Trail.
Gulf Shores Golf Club's peak-season green fee is around $85 per round. Off-peak rates vary by season. Call the pro shop for current shoulder pricing. Cart, range balls, and caddie fees are typically separate. Estimate the full Gulf Shores trip cost
