About Hershey Country Club - East Course

Hershey Country Club's East Course is George Fazio's 1969 championship design, the modern counterpoint to Maurice McCarthy's 1930 West Course on the same property. At 7,061 yards par 71 with a 74.5 rating and 136 slope, it's the longer and more demanding of the two HCC courses, and generally considered the club's championship track. Fazio routed through rolling central Pennsylvania countryside with mature trees framing elevated greens. More than 100 bunkers anchor the strategic defense, placed both at landing zones and around the greens to reject conservative lines. Water comes into play on several holes via a network of sparkling lakes that Fazio integrated into the routing. The design captures Fazio's late-career philosophy: sizable without being brutal, with visible hazards rather than hidden traps. The East has hosted the LPGA Tour's Lady Keystone Open for many years alongside the West (both courses shared hosting duties across the tournament's 1978-1994 run). For a Hershey trip, pair the East (Fazio 1969) with the West (McCarthy 1930 + 1940 PGA Championship history) for a two-course weekend that spans 40 years of American parkland architecture.
