Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw collaborated on their first-ever course design at Kapalua Plantation Course in 1991. The 7,596-yard par-73 layout rolls along the slopes of the West Maui Mountains with ocean views from virtually every hole and the famously massive 18th, a par-5 that drops dozens of stories from tee to green, one of the most memorable finishers in American golf. The Plantation Course has hosted the PGA Tour's Sentry Tournament of Champions (the Tour's annual season-opener) every year since 1999. Golf Digest ranks it #23 on America's 100 Greatest Public Courses. Golfweek places it #20 on Top 100 Best Courses You Can Play, #2 Best Golf Course You Can Play in Hawaii, and #39 on Top 200 Modern Courses. The course has won a Gold Medal Award from GOLF Magazine. For a Hawaii golf trip this is the #1 must-play.
