Wailea's original course opened in 1972 as the first golf development on the resort's 1,500-acre south-Maui footprint. Arthur Jack Snyder's routing is a classic island resort layout — wide fairways, coral sand bunkers, cooling fountains, and tropical plantings framing mountain and ocean views. The par-71, 6,545-yard length is the shortest of the three Wailea courses and the most forgiving from the tee. Golf Digest has named it among America's best resort courses, and at $285 it's the most affordable of the three Wailea options — a meaningful gap below the Gold and Emerald, which both sit closer to $325-350. For groups doing a multi-round Wailea stay, the Old Blue is the right book for the day after a long flight: scenic, walkable in feel, and unlikely to chew up an unwarmed swing.
