Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the Gold Course at Wailea in 1994 on Maui's southwest coast — the highest-ranked of three Wailea layouts (Gold, Emerald, Old Blue). The 7,078-yard par-72 routing plays through lava-rock terrain with significant elevation changes and ocean vistas on the front nine, demanding precision and smart course management. Golf Digest ranked the Gold as high as 9th on America's 100 Greatest Public Courses (2011-12) and has kept it in the top 10 for multiple consecutive ranking cycles (2005, 2009-10, 2011-12).
